Welcome to Preschool!

St. Michael’s Preschool program is based on the belief that children learn from interacting with their world. Our hands-on experiences make their world come to life. St. Michael’s Catholic community environment enhances the well-being of the whole child. Spiritual, social, cognitive and physical development are promoted through activities that encourage respect, cooperation and independence.

The St. Michael Preschool curriculum is theme-centered. The children explore a new theme every 1-2 weeks. The centers in the classroom are prepared with interactive materials to support exploration of the theme’s ideas and concepts. Math, science, social studies and reading readiness skills will be advanced as well as religion, art, music and physical activity.

Mrs. Laura Novotny

I earned my Elementary Education degree from Saint Xavier University and then later, a Masters in Teacher Leadership. I have 15 years experience as a classroom teacher in various grades. I currently have the pleasure and utmost joy of teaching preschool. Being the mother of three very young children is a major contribute to understanding the needs of my students.

Mrs. PJ Paetow

I graduated from St. Xavier University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been a teacher for 35 years, more than half of them here at St. Michael. As a graduate of St. Michael I chose to send my son as well. My faith and commitment to Catholic education is the cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. Being the gatekeeper to St. Michael School is a responsibility I take seriously. My mission is to develop a love of Jesus, academics, and friendship to St. Michael’s youngest students.
